Mehmet Sahin Altug is a painter and master furniture craftsman based in Richmond, Virginia. Originally from the Mediterranean coastal city of Mersin, Turkey, Mehmet learned carpentry from his father at a young age and assisted with the family retail furniture shop. He later moved to the States where he spent 25 years developing his own whimsical furniture style, incorporating imagery and aesthetics from his Turkish homeland.
Mehmet has since transitioned from carpentry to painting, artwork that is beloved for its “happy” subject matter and brilliant color palettes. He now hosts his own gallery and studio space, Cool Colors Gallery, which he opened in 2015.
